We got a lot of comments about the soft velvety feel and light scent, a lot of people don’t want that heavy smells on their face when they go to bed. It can be overwhelming when you try to fall asleep.

Online Start-Up Ayr Skin Care Products goes face-to-face for the first time with beauty products industry professionals and the public by showcasing its entire vegan and animal cruelty-free line of facial and body creams, lotions, oils, serums and soaps for people with sensitive skin at the Indie Beauty Expo in Los Angeles.
The two-day IBE provides a platform to display, promote and support independent beauty brands and the entrepreneurs behind them in the United States and abroad.
“This was our first trade show of any kind,” said Fiona Briggs, vice-president of Ayr Skin Care marketing and operations. “It was a great place to get our feet wet.”
A lot of industry representatives tried Ayr Skin Care’s products for the first time, said Briggs. “It gave people a chance to put a face to our brand.”
The trade reps and the general public, she said, were “blown away” by the soft silky texture and light fruity smell of the products developed by Briggs mother, Kirsten Thomas, who founded the company.
“She always had very sensitive skin,” Briggs said. “As she hit her 40’s and 50’s, she wanted strong anti-aging benefits without harsh synthetic products.”
Her mother, she added, went to great lengths finding and testing the right natural ingredients which give Ayr Skin Care products a “rich and luxurious” texture.
Briggs said the positive reaction was evenly spread across the product line, but, the Ayr Pure Moisture Nourishing Face Cream and the Restore Replenishing Night Cream were especially popular among the convention-goers.
“We got a lot of comments about the soft velvety feel and light scent,” she said. “A lot of people don’t want that heavy smells on their face when they go to bed. It can be overwhelming when you try to fall asleep.”
More than anything else, Briggs said the IBE made it clear how important the texture of their products is to the public.
“My mom spent a lot of time getting that just right. But for a lot people, texture was even more important than we realized because it is so difficult to get right in green skincare,” Briggs said.
Briggs expects to hone that message by the time Ayr Skin Care attends the largest beauty trade show in the Americas – the CosmoProf North America in Las Vegas, Nevada this summer.
Ayr Skin Care started in 2017 in San Juan Capistrano, California. Ayr’s all natural and non-toxic product line has its origins from creams, lotions, oils, serums, and soaps that Briggs’ mother developed for her own skin sensitivities. The company is named after the west coast Lowlands town where Briggs’ grandmother was born – Ayr, Scotland.
