HANNOVER, Germany, Sept. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Onshape, the leading cloud product development platform, and Sandvik, a world leader in applied manufacturing technologies, have forged a strategic partnership that will significantly simplify the way component manufacturers go from 3D CAD models to finished parts. The partnership, announced today at the EMO Hannover 2019 manufacturing trade show, integrates Onshape's advanced cloud CAD tools with Sandvik's reimagined take on CNC machine programming.
Sandvik's Prism CNC application enables component manufacturers to seamlessly move from part design to part programming in the cloud – without the need for manually moving or exporting CAD files between systems and formats. With a simple click of a button, Onshape users can connect the two solutions to start moving their 3D designs into Prism CNC for programming and G-code generation.
"Onshape is committed to not only provide best-in-class product development tools, but also is devoted to improving our customers' design and manufacturing processes," says David Katzman, Onshape VP of Sales and Customer Success. "We're proud to be partnering with Sandvik, which shares the same philosophy."
"Prism CNC marks the beginning of the end of checking out CAD files manually before you go into production planning," he adds. "By connecting our solutions behind the scenes, we're making it a lot easier for product development teams to go from design to first cut faster. We look forward to collaborating with Sandvik on future innovations."
The integration is live as of Monday, September 16, 2019, the first day of EMO Hannover 2019, and is available to all customers of Prism CNC and Onshape.
"This greatly reduces the risk of human error and removes the complexity of keeping track of CAD file versions as you move from part design to production planning," says Hugo Nordell, Managing Director, Growth Ventures and Vice President at Sandvik Applied Manufacturing Technologies.
"Customers are able to significantly cut the lead times between design and planning for simple parts that make up the bulk of production," he adds.
Visitors to EMO Hannover 2019 are encouraged to visit Sandvik in Hall 9, Booth F24 to experience the Onshape-Prism CNC integration up close.
