PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Open Doors Charitable Trust and Integrated Supports for Living, Inc. (IS Living) are excited to announce the opening of a new community-living residential care facility in the City of Independence, Polk County, Oregon. The new residence is called Open Doors Independence House, and was developed to meet the continuing need for community-centered support of individuals who experience Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Independence House is a three-bedroom home in a residential neighborhood, close to parks, a community center, and the charming downtown of Independence, along the bank of the Willamette River. Open Doors recently purchased and rehabilitated the house, and IS Living will provide support, services, and 24-hour supervision for the residential clients. Independence House will open on August 1, 2019.
Open Doors is a charitable trust established by Curt Shaw, a successful Oregon-based entrepreneur. Curt founded Open Doors because he saw that many fine nonprofits are limited in expanding their services due to the lack of affordable housing resources. The mission of Open Doors Charitable Trust is to invest in residential properties and provide them through long-term, below-market leases to local nonprofits who deliver temporary, transitional, and long-term residential services. All assets will be owned by the trust to help it grow and reinvest.

Integrated Supports for Living, Inc. is a nonprofit in Salem, OR with over 40 years of experience providing high quality, person-centered services for seniors and people who experience disabilities. IS Living already serves over 100 families and individuals through a variety of programs in Marion County. At Independence House, IS Living will provide services for multiple clients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, and be professionally staffed to deliver an improved, high-quality life experience in a family-like atmosphere.
