Any individual or organization looking to drive economic development for a specific region can browse the directory by state, county, town or ZIP and use the resulting link to promote their local businesses.
HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (PRWEB) April 21, 2020
Launched in early April, OperationMainStreet.com™ is a national gift card directory of over 50,000 small businesses. Born in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the goal of the project is to drive local patrons to buy gift cards from merchants in their community to help save these businesses and the jobs they create.
The Operation Main Street site has added a webpage for every state, county, town and ZIP code in the USA. Any individual or organization looking to drive economic development for a specific region can browse the directory by state, county, town or ZIP and use the resulting link to promote their local businesses. If a local Chamber of Commerce or other organization wants to promote multiple ZIP codes, they can use the Claim Your Town feature. They can enter multiple ZIP codes to cover a specific geographic area and OperationMainStreet will automatically create a custom page and send the link.
There is no cost for a business to participate in the Operation Main Street directory. If a company sells their gift cards online and wants to list their website in the directory they can simply fill out the form on the site.
The project is made possible by gift card technology and services provided by eGifter, a small company located on an actual Main Street in New York. “The team feels the pain of small business everywhere and welcomes the opportunity to share our resources to drive this initiative,” said Tyler Roye, CEO of eGifter.
The Queens Chamber of Commerce in New York created their custom gift card directory page using just the ZIP codes of the towns in their chamber.
“The Queens Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to cooperate with our neighbors on Long Island and support Operation Main Street right here in Queens,” says Thomas J. Grech, President & CEO. "This is a project that truly helps small businesses during these unprecedented times by allowing them to sell more gift cards, providing additional cash flow to get them through the crisis. I applaud Tyler Roye and his team at eGifter of New York for using their technology for this effort. As New Yorkers, we are ALL in this together,” says Grech.
LongIsland.com, a regional online hub for content and events, chose every ZIP code on Long Island.
“LongIsland.com was happy to promote the site as we look for ways to help the community,” said Andrew Hazen, CEO of LongIsland.com. “We even added it to our primary navigation.”
Any merchant processor, gift card processor or gift card platform that is powering gift cards for small merchants can have all of their clients added to the directory.
“We can quickly integrate with processors to instantly add thousands of merchants to the platform,” Roye added. “We hope many providers will reach out to join this effort.”
Operation Main Street was born in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our mission is to help small businesses all over the US sell more gift cards, providing additional cash flow to get them through the COVID-19. Our hope is that this will save many small businesses and the jobs they create.
