SALT LAKE CITY (PRWEB) July 22, 2020
Osmosis.org, a leading health education platform that empowers millions of clinicians and caregivers with the best learning experience possible, has been awarded the Best CEOs for Diversity and Best CEOs for Women awards by Comparably. Osmosis CEO, Shiv Gaglani, earned the award based on sentiment ratings provided by employees of color and female employees who anonymously rated their employer on Comparably.com, a leading workplace culture and compensation site.
“Shiv is the sort of person who makes an impression that lasts a lifetime. He doesn't see customers, end-users, employees, and investors; instead Shiv simply sees people,” Dr. Rishi Desai, Chief Medical Officer at Osmosis. “His heart is enormous and he cares deeply about the people that he meets, and thinks critically about how he can make a difference in their lives. As the CEO of Osmosis, Shiv has tied his personal values to the values of the company and it has been the single most important reason why Osmosis has seen such success. I have had the pleasure of working at Osmosis with Shiv for over four years now, and this has been the most rewarding professional experience of my life.”
According to Comparably, Shiv has a 98/100 CEO score and is rated in the top 5% of all CEOs on the platform. In the last year, under Shiv’s leadership, Osmosis has added seven team members to the People & Culture team, in efforts to better support current and future employees. He has also led efforts to develop diverse content for the company’s users and secure partnerships with organizations like the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) that is committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority health professional students.
“Our annual Best CEOs for Women and Diversity lists continue to shine an important spotlight on the leaders who are setting positive examples for others to learn from and model in their own organizations,” said Comparably CEO Jason Nazar. “It is no surprise to see Shiv Gaglani among the best of the best. Osmosis employees consistently praise his servant leadership, transparency, and genuine investment in workplace culture.”
Additionally, in 2019, Osmosis created a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee that engages in the following:
- Consults with functional teams each quarter on DEI-related projects. For example, DEI partnered with recruiting to ensure all jobs now go through a language review to confirm job posts are gender neutral. Osmosis has also partnered with Jopwell.com.
- Partners with the leadership team to elevate DEI efforts within the org, like hosting monthly meetings and presenting at quarterly company-wide meetings.
- Fields DEI concerns and feedback, problem-solving or escalating as needed
- Educates and builds awareness within the company on DEI topics through presentations, outside speakers, a book club, and more.
- Gathers data from the company on DEI topics related to discovering blind spots , discerning areas for improvement and proposing solutions to leadership.
- Promotes DEI in a mission- and value-aligned way; for example, Osmosis recently hosted a Hackathon where the content team dug into the company’s illustrated characters in its videos to ensure they accurately represented the learners and communities they serve.
“Shiv is a people-first leader who has envisioned and created an incredibly inclusive culture. He genuinely cares about every individual on the team and makes an active effort to get to know everyone at the company and help them both professionally and personally. ” said Hillary Acer, VP of People and Culture at Osmosis. “In the last two years of working with Shiv, I've been introduced to a dozen mentors and HR leaders, received specific feedback targeted to help me develop, and seen opportunities to publish articles, lead new initiatives, and represent Osmosis in a number of ways. I couldn't be more proud and grateful to not only work with Shiv, but also call him a friend.”
“At Osmosis, we are committed to creating a more caring world by developing the most caring people,” said Osmosis co-founder and CEO, Shiv Gaglani. “I’m humbled that my colleagues have recognized me for the work we are all doing to best support women and diversity efforts at Osmosis. This award should really be for the full team, especially teammates such as Hillary Acer, Yifan Xiao, Victoria Cumberbatch, Kara Lukasiewicz, Katie Murphy, Amin Azzam, Rishi Desai, Diana Stanley, Maggie Hull, Robyn Hughes, Aileen Lin, and Kyle Slinn to name just a few. As Osmosis further grows our audience, we are more committed than ever to further these efforts within our company and in the world for our clinicians and caregivers.”
