Pace University, in partnership with Cyber Intelligence 4U, is holding its annual Cybersecurity Conference on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020. The full day event, in its fourth year, will be held virtually and is open to the public. The keynote speaker is Former Rear Admiral and Cyber Director for the U.S. Navy Danelle Barrett, a respected industry leader and innovator. Rear Admiral Barrett was responsible for the Navy's cybersecurity strategy, its policies, and information technology architectures supporting global missions involving 279 ships, 3,700 aircraft, 93 submarines, and hundreds of locations with shore critical infrastructure around the world. In her role, she also provided critical advocacy and strategic advice for a $150 billion information technology and portfolio investment.

The conference includes panels and sessions on operational risk, cyber maturity, risk and regulation, and ransomware strategy, among many other discussions led by industry professional and Seidenberg faculty. Pace University and Cyber Intelligence 4U recently partnered to offer a new set of cybersecurity certificate programs taught by industry professionals.

The conference, which is taking place during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, comes just weeks after a team of programmers who met at Pace University won IBM's prestigious Call for Code 2020 Challenge for their efforts in developing an app to help the world's small farmers cope with the environmental and business challenges of climate change. In winning the global competition, they received a $200,000 prize and continued support from IBM and the Linux Foundation.

What's Your Cyber Maturity? Participants engage in an exciting discussion and poll related to cyber maturity with program chairperson Ariel Evans.
10:15-11:15am
IoT and Operational Risk Panel- This panel will explore how innovation is driving cyber risk and regulation. Topics will include risk quantification, IoT cyber risk, operational cyber risk, IoT regulation, and how to holistically understand innovative cyber risk. Featuring Fred Rica; Nikhil Aggarwal; Li-Chiou Chen, PhD; and Jennings Aske.

Ransomware Strategy-This session, led by Ariel Evans, will explore ransomware and how it is delivered, preventive measures, and creating a ransomware strategy. Ransomware and other attacks related to COVID-19 are up 30,000% from January to March, according to Zscaler. This includes phishing, malicious websites, and malware targeting remote users. Cybercriminals are being despicably opportunistic taking advantage of vulnerable companies as we have seen notable spikes in attacks that can be correlated to key days in the COVID-19 news cycle.
