HOUSTON, Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pacific Poké is set to open December 17th, 2018, bringing Hawaiian cuisine to Houstonians in the Galleria area. Pacific Poké will serve the current trend-setting poké bowls, along with a variety of cooked Hawaiian items.
Poké, pronounced POH-keh, comes from the Hawaiian word poke, which means to slice or cut. Beginning as a snack prepared by fisherman, the concept has boomed in popularity over the past year. Poké is a simple meal, traditionally made with raw fish, green onion, limu seaweed, soy sauce, salt and sometimes kukui nut meat.
Much like sushi, poké has become a viral phenomenon, and Americans have continued to get creative with the concept. About the opening, Pacific Poké owner, Andre Mercado, said "Although Hawaii is part of the states, it differs in culture substantially. My goal with Pacific Poké is to bridge that cultural gap."
Pacific Poké will carry on the poké tradition, offering cubed tuna, salmon and yellowtail, along with a variety of toppings for customers to make their own unique creations. Though poké is in their name, the restaurant also plans to serve other traditional Hawaiian cuisine, such as huli-huli chicken skewers, a Hawaiian burger complete with grilled pineapple and spicy aioli, maui shrimp, mochi ice cream and more.
Pacific Poké is located at the corner of Richmond Ave. and Chimney Rock (5549 Richmond Ave. Houston TX 77056), and will be open from 11 am to 10 pm Monday through Saturday, and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday. The eatery is a quick and delicious lunch stop for young professionals in the area, but also has seating for those looking to sit down and enjoy a meal with family or friends. Instagrammers can even catch a photo-op with the restaurant's Hawaiian themed selfie wall, painted by Leah Hereford (Mural Mule) of Houston.
