BOSTON, Jan. 29, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Surpassing the 52 million package transaction milestone, Package Concierge® is revealing insights from the 2019 holiday shipping season, including the biggest year-over-year (YoY) gains in package deliveries at multifamily properties. During the 5-week 2019 holiday season from Black Friday through the end of December, Package Concierge processed nearly three million packages. Once again, the second week of the holiday season was the busiest shipping week resulting in more than 727,000 transactions processed by Package Concierge that week alone. Normalized growth rates, analyzing systems operating at properties in both 2018-19, shows 19 percent growth YoY while overall package transactions of all Package Concierge systems operating during the 2019 holiday season rose 43 percent.
"Our usage data during the holidays accentuates why automated package lockers are expanding so rapidly. Package management systems are no longer just nice to have – they are an expected amenity for residents and a true operational need for property managers," said Stacy Kohlmeier, VP of Customer Experience at Package Concierge. "The unprecedented package volume this holiday season is on trend with expectations and there is no indication that consumer behavior related to online shopping is slowing. Apartment residents, like all consumers, desire increased security for their package deliveries and an easy way to get their packages at their convenience. Automated locker systems offer the consumer both."
"Package delivery volume has grown significantly each year, and this means more time for our staff and management to handle packages and be away from the front desk, said Andrea Kalemba, Community Manager for The Carlyle, a luxury condominium in Minneapolis. "Increased package volume during the holiday shopping season just exacerbates the problem. With Package Concierge, we have the ability to simplify the process, while also organizing the incoming packages, so our team is freed up to focus on other tasks that serve our residents in better ways."
According to MasterCard's SpendingPulse report, holiday spending increased by 3.4 percent in 2019, with an eCommerce growth rate of 18.8 percent YoY. Additionally, a recent Package Concierge Zogby Research study of shoppers aged 18-25 years old (GenZ) found that 60 percent indicated Buy Online Pickup In-Store (BOPIS) plays a factor in retailer selection and almost 90 percent have made an additional purchase during an in-store visit. As BOPIS popularity continues to grow, retail store managers, similar to apartment property managers, have discovered the operational efficiencies coupled with improved customer experience that automated locker systems provide.
With nearly 2,000 installations and the record-breaking 2019 holiday season, Package Concierge has now managed more than 52 million packages nationwide. For more information and industry insights, please visit http://packageconcierge.com.
