Palm Beach Opera presents Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's sophisticated romantic comedy "Così fan tutte" on Feb. 24-26 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
WEST PALM BEACH Fla., Feb. 22, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Following Palm Beach Opera's successful "Madama Butterfly," which ranks among PBO's top grossing operas over the last 15 years, the company returns with Mozart's playful "Così fan tutte." Nestled on the coast of the French Riviera, PBO's impressive production takes place at a lavish resort during World War I and features early 20th-century-inspired costumes, an eye-catching set, and a world-class cast.
PBO's Chief Conductor David Stern will lead the orchestra, and Fenlon Lamb, who directed PBO's "The Elixir of Love" to critical acclaim, returns to lead the cast. Hailey Clark, hailed by Opera News for her "warm and effortless" soprano, will sing the role of Fiordiligi, and mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey—winner of the Glyndebourne Opera Cup and world-famous Operalia competition—will perform as Dorabella. Rising Houston Grand Opera star Thomas Glass will perform as Guglielmo, and American baritone Dennis Jesse, who performed in Des Moines Metro Opera's 2018 Emmy-winning broadcast performance of "Billy Budd," will perform as Don Alfonso.
Former PBO Benenson Young Artist Duke Kim, last seen at PBO as Camille de Roussillon in "The Merry Widow," will return as Ferrando, and Seattle Opera star Madison Leonard will sing the role of Despina. Hankey, Glass, Jesse, and Leonard will all mark house debuts in this production. Glass, Kim, Leonard, and Hankey are also all former winners of the esteemed Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition.
