TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- With a national crisis looming, a partnership between Horry Georgetown Technical College and BlueLedge looks to alleviate some of the shortage for South Carolina.
The most pressing need for the legal industry today is the requirement for well-trained and skilled individuals to fill the increasing demand to take sworn testimony and record the record in the court system. A significant gap exists between the forecasted supply and demand of court reporting professionals nationwide. According to an HGTC Press Release from February 20, 2019, "HGTC hopes to meet the need for court reporters both in the private sector and in South Carolina's court system."
HGTC has selected BlueLedge as their training partner and plans to start their first cohort of students on March 4th. BlueLedge offers digital court reporting and legal transcription curriculum approved by the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers. BlueLedge utilizes an online learning delivery system, which allows students to access the content from anywhere, with any device. Benjamin Jaffe, Manager of Digital Training and Development for BlueLedge, says, "We are very excited to be partnering with HGTC, and schools like them across the country, to train the next generation of court reporters."
Court reporting calls for highly-trained specialists who are knowledgeable of the legal system and the way transcripts need to be presented. Digital court reporters are in high demand and are likely to find jobs quickly. According to an article written by Deevon Rahming for WPDE ABC 15 News, "The average court reporter salary in South Carolina is $52,000, but the range typically falls between $38,000 to $68,000."
