Ellsworth learned about Caring Transitions while looking into business opportunities a few years ago, but didn't seriously consider it until his own father went in for relatively routine open heart surgery and ended up in the surgical intensive care unit.

"I spent quite a bit of time in the hospital with my mom talking about life and relationships and I starting thinking, 'What am I doing with my life? How am I making a difference?' A month later the company I was working for was sold and, four days after that, my dad passed away. It was a sign it was time to do something more meaningful, which is why I came to Caring Transitions," Ellsworth said.
