Paul Mengert Pays Tribute to Local Hero At Networking Event
President of One Of North Carolina's Leading Homeowner and Condominium Association Management Companies - Paul Mengert Announces Award for Local Hero at Annual Airport Event
GREENSBORO, N.C., Oct. 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Paul Mengert, President of Association Management Group (AMG), which manages condominium and homeowner associations throughout North and South Carolina, was asked to speak at an annual networking event, hosted by The Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) last Thursday, September 26th. This event also honored Clyde Fitzgerald and his tenure at Second Harvest Food Bank. Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI), where Mengert also sits as Treasurer on the Board, has worked closely with Fitzgerald for the last several years to coordinate the annual PTI 'Run on the Runway' fundraiser. Unfortunately, Fitzgerald passed away last November, but his legacy lives on through the multiple institutions he has helped to develop and establish across the Triad area.
As co-chairs and sponsors of the annual PTI 'Run on the Runway' event, Paul and May Gayle Mengert have had a unique opportunity to collaborate with Fitzgerald over the years, and at the event Paul spoke companionably about Fitzgerald's accomplishments and legacy. Clyde Fitzgerald served as the CEO of the Second Harvest Food Bank for ten years, during which time millions of meals were provided to families in eighteen different counties across North Carolina. Before that, Fitzgerald served the Food Bank in multiple ways as a board member, fundraiser, and community member, and he volunteered with his wife Carol at St. Paul's Episcopal Church before the Food Bank came into existence in 1982.
Because of his lifetime dedication to service, Fitzgerald was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award by Governor Roy Cooper. This award recognizes persons who have made significant contributions to the state and to their communities through exemplary service and exceptional accomplishments. As a way of remembering Fitzgerald's lifetime achievements, the PTI Airport will be erecting a plaque commemorating his service as Chairman and Honorary Chairman of the Run on the Runway.
This year PTI's Run on the Runway fundraiser raised $122,671.13 to fight hunger in the Triad, and the next iteration of the PTI's Run on the Runway is scheduled to take place on March 28, 2020. For the past several years, it has been a terrific fundraiser for Second Harvest and other food insecurity groups in the Triad, combining efforts from individual and corporate sponsors. AMG is, of course, proud to sponsor the race every year, and hopes the turnout for upcoming years will appropriately pay tribute to Fitzgerald's memory.
