Retired Flight Attendant Coming with Five Airilne Beverage Carts To Honor 25th Anniversary
NEW YORK, Sept. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Paul 'Paulie' Veneto, the retired United Airlines flight attendant who honored flight crew friends and colleagues by pushing an airline beverage cart nearly 800 miles along routes that represented the flight paths of each of the aircraft hijacked on September 11, 2001, is back to honor the 25th anniversary of the attacks – except this time the Push is being called 'Everyone's Push', and it honors all who died that day, and in the years since.
"I completed my mission in 2024, I pushed my cart for all four of the flight crews – the 'first, first responders'," Veneto says. "At every memorial we pushed into, whether the Pentagon, or the National Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania, or the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York, people kept asking me: 'What are you going to do for the 25th?' Well, this is it."
For Everyone's Push, four additional airline beverage carts have been donated, allowing members of the public to come out and push alongside Veneto. In many of the communities he has passed through since his journey began on August 15 all five carts have been out on the road at once.
"Police and fire officials shut down Newbury Street in Boston, and we had dozens of people pushing the carts with us. We had the communities of Lebanon and Amston, CT come out to bring all of the carts down the Air Line Trail," says Veneto. "We had all the carts out over the Arrigoni Bridge between Portland and Middletown, where they shut down a lane for us, and then we pushed them all the way up Main Street in Middletown. We've had mayors come out and push the carts in Connecticut, and in some places fire departments and police departments have taken turns handing the carts off to one another to keep all four going."
Veneto, who is following a route representing the flight paths of American 11 and United 175 between Boston and New York, says that he has long been particularly proud of how much Paulie's Push has brought people together, and he believes that is even more important this year.
"In the days after September 11th, 2001 America came together as a country in a way we haven't really seen since," Veneto remembers. "It was an amazing time in our history – for a brief period we all were one. Each year as I've pushed my cart I've gotten to see a little glimmer of that again, and it gives me hope. With these four beverage carts we're asking anyone to come out and push – we don't care who you are, we just want you to come out and push the carts with us. This is Everyone's Push."
Many of the people who come out to meet him have personal connections to the tragedies, Veneto says. This year those who have pushed with him have included flight crew family members, family members who lost loved ones in the towers, and firefighters who are battling cancers contracted in the aftermath of September 11.
"Everyone's Push honors them all," Veneto says.
In the days leading up to Ground Zero Veneto will push at the corner of East 18th Street & Athur Avenue in the Bronx's Little Italy for a media event and celebration of his return to New York. He'll push through the Bronx and Manhattan, as well, with a NYPD escort, and will be joined by dignitaries, 9/11 families, and communities along the way.
"The first year I did this in 2021 I said it, and I've since said it over and over: 'I wish the public could come out and experience what I'm experiencing pushing this cart.' This year, they've been able to. And the stories they share with me only get more personal as we get closer and closer to Ground Zero," says Veneto.
Paulie's Push travels with a team – 'Team Paulie' – who handle logistics, social media, and GPS tracking – members of the public can track the cart's precise location in real time and come out and find it, and him, along the route – part of what has made community events along the routes he's traveled through so well-attended.
Veneto pushes through Connecticut through Sunday, into New York and through Westchester County on Monday and Tuesday, into the Bronx on Wednesday, where the media event and celebration is planned with local elected officials including Councilmember Oswald Feliz, members of the FDNY and others – followed by an intimate lunch at Ann & Tony's, opened since 1927 as a five generation, family-owned business on Athur Avenue. He'll finish with a push down 22nd Avenue in Manhattan on Thursday, saving the 'final mile' down Broadway and into Ground Zero for Friday, September 11th.
"Paulie's Push began as a tribute, but it's since turned into a movement," says Veneto. "We've been able to bring something to people affected by 9/11 who, I hope, might get healing from what we're doing. I can't wait to be back in New York, and I can't wait to see who comes to push these carts alongside me."
