Learn How to Compare College Financial Aid Offers and Strategies to Graduate from College Debt-Free at Paying for College Complimentary Live Online Event

CollegeWeekLive, the leading website for live online college admissions events, today announced that on Thursday January 9th at 5:00 p.m. eastern a specialist with the U.S. Department of Education will be explaining how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, during a live video webcast titled “Financial Aid 101 – Everything You Need to Know About Getting Money for College”. The FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid application process and is used by nearly every college and university in the United States to determine the financial aid package that is offered to admitted college students. That financial aid package may include merit and need-based aid, and may include both scholarships and loans.

The January 9th Paying for College complimentary virtual event, which takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., will also feature Diane Melville, author of “The Community College Advantage: Your Guide to a Low-Cost, High-Reward Community College Experience” in an American Student Assistance sponsored video presentation at 6:00 p.m. titled, “Paying for College: It’s About More Than Money.” Diane will share specific strategies for graduating from college debt-free with solid career prospects.

At 7:00 p.m. Mark Kantrowicz, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Edvisors, will present live via video on “How to Evaluate Financial Aid Award Letters”. This presentation will explain how to compare financial aid offers when a student is accepted to more than one college. Students typically learn whether they will be admitted to a college by April 15 and must make an enrollment decision and place a deposit at the school of their choice by May 1st. This finite time period does not give families much time to evaluate financing options on one of the largest investment decisions they will make in their lives, funding their child’s college education.

CollegeWeekLive Paying for College event will not only offer step-by-step instructions on completing the FAFSA but also practical advice from a range of financial aid experts on finding scholarships and understanding the pros and cons of various financial aid options and how to manage finances as a young adult. Because this CollegeWeekLive event is held live online, attendees who login can get their personal questions answered immediately by the experts during each presentation.

Several hundred colleges will be participating in the event, with financial aid representatives standing by, ready to chat live with attendees about college financing questions they may have. Students who login to the event and visit with three or more higher education institutions will be eligible for a drawing for a $2,500.00 Pay Your Way Scholarship provided by CollegeWeekLive.
