TINLEY PARK, Ill., July 12, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Payroc's Chief Executive Officer, James Oberman, has been awarded the 2023 Industry Achievement Award by the Midwest Acquirers Association.
Oberman has over three decades of experience within the payments industry and has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Payroc since 2015. As CEO, he oversees Payroc's strategic initiatives and long-term enterprise development, bringing over 27 years of senior executive and entrepreneurial payments experience.
Midwest Acquirers Association was established in 2002 to connect payment providers and experts in the central United States. Their Industry Achievement Award was established in 2003 to highlight one deserving individual's contributions and innovation within payments.
"I am grateful to the Midwest Acquirers Association for this esteemed distinction," said Oberman. "Although I am being recognized for my personal contributions, my greatest achievement is partnering with the talented and dedicated professionals that drive our industry and empower our merchants and partners with best-in-class payment solutions. I'm thankful to not only be an integral part of the U.S. economy but the global economy.
Prior to Payroc, from 2000 through 2015, Oberman served in several executive roles at National Processing Company (NPC). In 2010, FIS Worldpay, formerly Vantiv, purchased NPC, and Oberman was selected as the Managing Director of all ISO-related business activities. Later in 2013, Oberman was appointed Chief Merchant Risk Officer, serving over 220,000 small-to-medium-sized merchants.
During Oberman's tenure within payments, he played a key role in developing and advancing several key ISOs. He was also responsible for several critical initiatives, including the creation of innovative boarding, CRM, and risk management systems. Additionally, Oberman led successful efforts in acquiring merchant portfolios and overseeing the company's POS equipment leasing and check processing divisions.
In addition to his professional accolades, Oberman has served on several payments association and card brand advisory committees and boards, including the Electronic Transaction Association (ETA) Government Relations and Risk Committees and ETA's Strategic Leadership Forum.
