pCloud Releases New Version of pCloud Drive with Client-Side Encryption Capability
ZUG, SWITZERLAND (PRWEB) February 23, 2015 -- Cloud storage service pCloud today announced the release of a new version of pCloud Drive, which will offer upgraded security, privacy and data protection.
The most significant enhancement to the updated version is the pCloud Crypto feature. pCloud Crypto offers users client-side encryption security, making it one of the most secure cloud storage solutions on the market. Using pCloud Crypto, encryption is performed with a user-generated passphrase, and only encrypted files are uploaded to servers. In order to access the files, users must enter the passphrase and the files are decrypted on the client side.
According to pCloud CEO Tunio Zafer, pCloud Crypto gives users the highest level of protection on the market. The feature includes zero-knowledge privacy, meaning that only the user can view encrypted files.
“pCloud Crypto makes pCloud Drive so secure that information is safeguarded from government agencies, hackers and pCloud administrators alike,” said Zafer. “With the vast amount of sensitive information consumers store in the cloud, consumers need assurance that others won’t see those files. That’s why security was our primary goal with the pCloud Drive update.”
pCloud Crypto also houses servers in multiple locations for additional security measures. The new version of pCloud Drive is the latest in a series of launches from pCloud. Late last year, pCloud introduced its pCloud Drive – a unique and secure virtual drive that allows users to access the cloud directly from desktop computers in the same way a local drive is accessed.
This year will be an important one for pCloud, according to Zafer. The cloud storage provider has surpassed one million users and expects to remain on a similar growth trajectory. It also plans to expand its user base to include businesses as well as make further product enhancements.
“We’re always looking to solve cloud storage problems for businesses and consumers alike,” said Zafer. “The cloud storage industry is still young, but a few big players have already set standards for what users expect from the cloud. We’re changing that by directly addressing the inadequacies that we see in the market in order to give our users the very best experience in cloud-based storage.”
