Pearl Properties and CookNSolo Announce Key Details for Restaurant Coming to The Harper in Rittenhouse Square
When The Harper, Pearl Properties' most luxurious development to-date, opens this June, CookNSolo will debut K'Far--helmed by Chef Camille Cogswell.
PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pearl Properties and CookNSolo are pleased to announce K'Far, a bakery and café, located at The Harper's residential entrance on 19th Street between Sansom and Chestnut streets. K'Far will be powerhouse restaurateurs Steven Cook and Michael Solomonov's all-day restaurant bringing another integral slice of Israeli food culture to Philadelphia.
The Hebrew word for "village", K'Far is a reference to the central role the bakery plays in Israeli life. It was in the town of K'Far Saba, just north of Tel Aviv, that Chef Michael Solomonov held his first kitchen job in a bakery on Weizmann Street.
"When we learned about The Harper, we knew it would be the perfect home for K'Far," said Steven Cook, co-owner of CookNSolo. "Pearl's track record of creating community in Philadelphia is unparalleled and The Harper proves the point in the heart of Center City. We want K'Far to be the village bakery - a place where people of all stripes can gather over a cup of coffee and a boreka in the morning, or a glass of wine and a hearth-cooked meal in the evening."
Helming the hearth is Chef Camille Cogswell, the second pastry chef ever to earn the James Beard Foundation's "Rising Star Chef" Award in 2018 as pastry chef of Zahav, CookNSolo's landmark Israeli restaurant in Philadelphia.
The Harper will welcome its first residents on June 1st, 2019 consisting of a 25-story, best in class luxury apartment tower, also featuring premier retail space, creative office, dog park, outdoor pool and deck, state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor basketball court, yoga studio, 10,000 sq. ft. elevated green roof/park with furniture, hammocks and grills, along with an underground garage. The development is named after James Harper, Rittenhouse Square's first builder and a United States Congressman in the 1830's.
"The Harper is not only the most luxurious property we have ever developed, but it also is perfectly positioned to dramatically impact one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Philadelphia…and we do not take that lightly," said Reed Slogoff, principal of Pearl Properties.
"The concept behind K'Far, rooted in community, honors Mike's journey from a bakery in Israel
to a bakery in Philadelphia, 20 years later. Throughout history, food has always had a way of bringing people together and K'Far will do just that for the residents of The Harper and the surrounding community."
