Aeroflow Breastpumps and presenting partner Elvie award $10,000 to Michigan nonprofit organization in its fourth annual Pumping Room Makeover Contest
ASHEVILLE, N.C., Dec. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Aeroflow Breastpumps, the leading breast pump distributor and breastfeeding resource center, is thrilled to announce the winner of its fourth annual Pumping Room Makeover Contest: Peckham, Inc., a nonprofit community rehabilitation organization that provides competitive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities in Lansing, Michigan.
The contest, which launched in August 2022, received hundreds of entries from businesses around the U.S. committed to helping people with physical, cognitive, behavioral and socio-economic challenges, Peckham, Inc. was selected as Aeroflow Breastpumps' $10,000 Grand Prize winner. The nonprofit organization will use the funds to create an entirely new pumping room for its employees and the individuals they serve.
"We were so inspired by the stories Peckham, Inc. has shared with us about their dedicated staff and the work they are doing for the Lansing community," says Jennifer Jordan, Aeroflow Breastpumps Director of Mom & Baby. "There's always so much uncertainty that comes with being a new parent, especially when transitioning back to work. Through this contest, we couldn't be happier to help create new comfortable, inviting spaces for the incredible mothers who are working for their little ones while also working to help others at Peckham, Inc. each day."
"Right now, our working mothers are using a renovated closet space with lack of ergonomic seating and supplies to pump throughout the work day," says Maddisen Cardwell-Hutchinson, Vocational Services Specialist at Peckham, Inc. "We couldn't be more excited or honored to receive Aeroflow Breastpumps' donation to provide a room where our mothers can escape to decrease stress, increase oxytocin and ultimately make more milk. Every mom deserves a safe space, and we're thankful to have Aeroflow Breastpumps to help make it happen."
The Pumping Room Makeover is an annual contest that Aeroflow Breastpumps began in August 2018 in response to an overwhelming amount of feedback from mothers who are tired of nursing and pumping in closets, bathrooms, conference rooms, the car, etc. throughout the workday. These challenging conditions often make it difficult for working moms to produce milk and ultimately forces many to choose between feeding their babies and going back to work. Aeroflow Breastpumps believes that no mother deserves to pump in a bathroom stall and strives to make a difference and create change within the workplace – one pumping room makeover at a time.
