Pegasus Springs Education Collective Offers Summer Learning Programs at Disney World
Pegasus Springs Education Collective, a nonprofit organization that seeks to build an engaged community of educators, parents and other stakeholders to transform the future of education, has partnered with Disney YES and is now accepting registrations for its student summer leadership program and a professional development retreat for educators to explore Equity in Education.
ORLANDO, Fla., April 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pegasus Springs Education Collective, a nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts, is now accepting registrations for two programs at Walt Disney World this summer aimed at supporting its mission to connect and support educators, students and other stakeholders in nurturing a learning culture that enables and inspires students to learn and achieve.
The Building Our Leaders of Tomorrow (BOLT) leadership program for students grades 3-12 will take place June 30 through July 3 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort—using the Disney theme parks as hands-on classrooms in partnership with Disney YES (Youth Education Series).
- Students will develop confidence, learn important leadership skills, and work collaboratively with peers in three age groups. Certificates of completion are awarded.
The Summer Educator Retreat runs July 1-3, also at Coronado Springs, and will explore Equity in Education. This professional development session will be facilitated by Gene Thompson-Grove, a co-founder of the School Reform Initiative (SRI) and authority on transformational learning.
- Educators will develop capacity to access, engage and sustain complex and challenging conversations about equity, explore how to develop the dispositions and skills for being culturally responsive educators, and use SRI protocols and resources.
In addition to the learning and development opportunities, the programs have been designed to allow families to enjoy an affordable Disney adventure this summer with discounts for dual or multiple enrollments on top of already reduced prices, including lodging at Coronado Springs for $169 per night and deals on Park Hopper passes. The daily sessions conclude mid-afternoon, leaving time for families to explore Disney together.
