LANCASTER, Pa., May 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, the area's preeminent institution for the health care field, today announced a 96.15% pass rate for first-time test takers of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for the second quarter of 2019. This surpasses the national average of 76.43% by nearly 20 points.
"This first-time pass rate is commendable and demonstrates the dedication and effort of our faculty to provide the best possible education for our students," said Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences Dean of Nursing Dr. Cheryl Grab. "This higher-than-average test score comes after seeing continuous year-over-year improvement and is the result of our commitment to excellence in nursing as well as the comprehensiveness our program."
Some of the initiatives undertaken by the College to continuously advance the program include decreasing class sizes, enhancing simulated learning experiences, incorporating Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) learning systems into the curriculum, improving the faculty hiring and orientation process and identifying high-risk students early on to provide them with additional assistance.

In addition to its established Associate Degree in Nursing program, Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences is the only institution in the region that offers an accelerated three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The College's rigorous curriculum prepares students for a myriad of health care settings, immersing them in a unique theoretical learning environment where collaboration between disciplines mimics that of a hospital and fosters a holistic understanding of how each professional and department works together to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
To meet the growing demand for qualified nursing professionals, the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences also launched an MSN Nurse Practitioner program that will begin in the fall semester of 2019.
