Local resident Paula Malone is partnering with the fresh pet food franchise to satisfy both the pets and pet parents of their Cleveland, TN community.
CLEVELAND, Tenn., June 27, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pet Wants, the only national provider of pet food freshly delivered to customers, has announced the signing of a new location in Cleveland, Tennessee to add to its total of over 140 locations. With a mission to improve the nutrition, health, vitality and well-being of pets throughout North America, Pet Wants has entered several new markets this year as entrepreneurs recognize the strength of the brand's innovative business model, unique consumer offering and simplified operations.
Two of those entrepreneurs are Randall and Paula Malone, the husband-and-wife team and franchise owners behind this newest Pet Wants location in Tennessee. In their adult lives, the Malones have always worked together. For 15 years, they ran nine Chem-Dry franchises before deciding to fulfill Paula's dream to help children who had suffered hardships, much like she had as a young girl. The couple operated four children's homes in North Georgia for 18 years, until the COVID-19 pandemic complicated their operations, leading to their closure.
The pandemic also marked the beginning of their foray into the pet food industry. When their dog developed dermatitis, they were introduced to Pet Wants and were blown away by how quickly the new diet cleared up his sores. Around the same time, Randall needed to start another day job at the post office and found himself delivering pet food day in and day out. With a desire to get back to their entrepreneurial roots, the Malones took it as a sign to start exploring pet franchises.
"After a year of our dogs eating Pet Wants food, we see the difference," said Paula Malone. "We are always looking to do something together. We've been looking for something new all year, so when this all happened, Pet Wants really felt like the right fit."
Randall Malone agreed, noting, "It is really just about helping people. That is what we've always done, and we wanted to keep doing that. You are helping people when you are helping people's pets. It really means something to people because their pets are a part of their families."
Their aspiration with Pet Wants is to expand across Cleveland and beyond while helping pet owners provide optimal nutrition for their pets. Working together as a family — with their two oldest children Kodi Malone and Kylee Smith joining the business — is a key part of their venture, underlining their commitment to family values and team spirit.
"We couldn't be more excited to expand Pet Wants in Tennessee and we couldn't have found a better partner to help us do it than Paula," said Brand President DeNita Carani. "This is an incredible time for the Pet Wants brand overall as we continue to welcome franchise owners who focus on educating pet owners in their community on health, wellness and nutrition. The more we educate the pet parent on what makes Pet Wants so good for their furry family members, the more our sales grow."
The value of the pet industry in the U.S. reached over $124 billion by the end of 2022 as consumers shift towards a more health-conscious lifestyle. Over the past decade, the amount of money Americans spend on pets has more than doubled, and pet food and treats make up the most significant portion of the national pet food market at over $50 billion annually.
The Pet Wants brand's pet food is made with fresh, natural ingredients enhanced with vitamins and minerals, free from potentially harmful fillers, bad ingredient choices and animal byproducts. With Pet Wants, pet owners get all the benefits of fresh, nutrient-dense food and the convenience of home delivery — without any of the hassles. Additionally, pet owners can take advantage of the brand's educational resources, grooming services and more.
Pet Wants franchisees start with a mobile or event-based business and focus on acquiring subscription delivery customers and building connections with local pet parents in their first year. At the end of their first year, franchisees will add the launch of their retail pet store and grooming center that sells Pet Wants food, custom chews and treats, as well as supplements. This allows them to take advantage of dual revenue streams once they open their brick-and-mortar store: retail sales (both in-person and online through the brand's eCommerce platform) and grooming services.
Now, Carani says the brand anticipates adding 35 to 40 new franchise owners next year, meaning the time has never been better for entrepreneurs to leverage the support of Pet Wants' proven brand and scalable business model to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams.
"Who doesn't love a business built around loving pets?" said Carani. "If you are looking for a low-cost, high-demand, rewarding business, there isn't a better opportunity in the booming pet industry than Pet Wants."
Pet Wants is seeking qualified, passionate franchisees in markets across the U.S., starting with Texas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and the Pacific Northwest.
