Pevco Link Easily Integrates with Pharmacy Information Systems
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- Pevco, a U.S. manufacturer focused exclusively on pneumatic tube systems for hospitals, announced that Pevco Link™, the company’s technology for tracking medications sent through a pneumatic tube system, can seamlessly share data with a hospital’s pharmacy information system.
Pevco Link is a tablet-like touch control for pneumatic tube system stations. It provides intuitive functions, a bright color display, a built-in directory of station addresses, and easy-to-access transaction data. With Pevco Link, pharmacy technicians, nurses and other users can securely send pharmaceuticals, specimens and blood products through the tube system with the touch of a button. With its integrated barcode reader, Pevco Link lets users accurately track any barcode-labeled medical item and the carriers that transport and protect them.
Pevco Link’s integration with pharmacy information systems is significant because it streamlines the process of getting medicine from the pharmacy to the patient. Without this integration, pharmacy technicians monitor both the pharmacy information system and the Pevco tube system in order to confirm the arrival of a drug at a nursing station on the patient’s floor. Now, technicians only need to check their pharmacy information system because the tube system data captured by Link is viewable through the technology they already use for pharmaceutical orders and fulfillment.
The tube system transaction data captured by Pevco Link is stored in a SQL database. As a result, it integrates easily with other databases, including those used in pharmacy information systems. “We understand that our customers don’t want to use multiple vendor interfaces during their work day,” said Steve Dahl, Pevco’s director of product development and marketing. “Like all of our solutions, Pevco Link was designed to be simple, so healthcare staff have more time to focus on their jobs.”
Pevco will showcase Pevco Link at booth #1915 at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting, which runs from Dec. 8 – 12 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
ASHP Midyear is the largest gathering of pharmacists in the world. With its focus on improving patient care and medication safety, the meeting is attended by more than 20,000 pharmacy professionals from about 100 countries.
