This designation enhances PHAB's commitment to quality and performance improvement for all health departments
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 25, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) today announced national accreditation status for the first public health department outside the United States - Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), Qatar. The Ministry of Public Health, located in Doha, Qatar, received initial accreditation status for five years.
Accreditation of MOPH Qatar has been a multi-year effort and PHAB is thrilled that the Standards & Measures and principles of public health practice are applicable to international communities.

International accreditation is not a separate PHAB program; health departments within and outside of the United States seeking and achieving PHAB initial accreditation use the official Standards & Measures.

PHAB aims to transform and protect public health practice by championing performance improvement, strong infrastructure, and innovation. This mission encouraged international participation in the accreditation program to strengthen infrastructure, support performance and quality improvement, and increase transparency and accountability of MOPH Qatar. Learnings from this experience will undoubtedly benefit future iterations of the PHAB Standards & Measures, leading to more efficient public health practices across the world.
