Phantom Screens, Control4, Infratech and Somfy announce their collaboration on the innovative outdoor living space at the 2020 New American Home which will be unveiled during the 2020 International Builders’ Show on January 21-23, 2020.

The 2020 New American Home (TNAH) by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is located in the neighborhood of Ascaya, near the Las Vegas Valley. The home builder, Sun West Custom Homes, has partnered with industry leading sponsors to develop the state-of-the-art residence which showcases the latest in innovative home products and design. The all-season patio featuring Phantom Screens, Control4, Infratech and Somfy, connects the kitchen, great room and master bedroom.

The partnership offers a cohesive turnkey solution for those seeking to create comfortable, functional and connected outdoor spaces, regardless of climate. Retractable solar screens by Phantom Screens (powered by Somfy) work in conjunction with overhead heaters from Infratech Comfort to keep the covered outdoor patio cool during the day and warm in the evenings, for 24/7 year-round comfort.

“We know it’s important to homeowners to take full advantage of their outdoor spaces, no matter the weather,” said C. Esther De Wolde, Chief Executive Officer at Phantom Screens. “We and our partners created the temperature-responsive patio on TNAH to demonstrate the synergy we bring builders, making it easy for them to provide all-season outdoor living to their clients without added work or hassle.”

“Home automation and connectivity continues to be a leading discussion in residential design,” stated Earnest J. Morgan, Head of Residential Construction and Hospitality Programs with Control4. “We are pleased to work alongside these partners to provide a fully connected home that brings consistent comfort, ease and functionality to all spaces including the outdoors.”

The Phantom retractable solar screens, powered by Somfy motors, and Infratech overhead heaters have two-way communication with Control4, integrating directly into the home automation system. The screens and heaters can be controlled and modified to adjust to changing temperatures through the smart control system, which monitors the surrounding environment. This enables homeowners to have the screens and heaters respond automatically to changing conditions to maintain optimum outdoor comfort. Local control is also possible with Somfy offering options such as remotes and switches, while Control4 provides interface panels. Homeowners are able to adjust the screens to suit how they’re using their outdoor space at any given time.

“Somfy is proud to partner with these industry leading experts to bring motorization and connectivity functions to the TNAH outdoor living space,” said Yilmaz Ozturan, President, Chief Executive Officer of Somfy North America. “By providing a fully integrated solution, with partners such as this, exterior home designs can cater to the needs of smart home minded consumers and bring convenience, comfort and functionality to any space.”

“In the Las Vegas climate, homeowners are consistently seeking means to regulate home temperatures and extend the life of their outdoor living spaces,” said David Arnold, Director of Sales at Infratech. “By providing builders and developers with turnkey solutions such as this, we can deliver a hassle free solution for both them and consumers alike.”
