Pier 33 Opts Out of Progressive Insurance Michigan City Boat Show; Alternative Event to Be Held
St. Joseph, Michigan (PRWEB) July 26, 2016 -- Pier 33 Marina of St. Joseph, Michigan has announced that it will hold a new event in lieu of attending the 2016 Chicagoland Progressive Insurance Michigan City In-Water Boat Show.
In place of the boat show, Pier 33 will hold Ride & Decide Demo Days II, Saturday & Sunday, August 13 & 14, at Pier 33 Marina in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Pier 33 has maintained a significant display presence at the Michigan City In-Water Boat Show for over twenty-five years.
“Despite the best of efforts of organizers and exhibitors, the Progressive Insurance Michigan City In Water Boat Show has diminished substantially in exhibitor participation over the past few years” according to Pier 33 General Manager Tighe Curran. “Because of that, the visitor experience has also diminished. Last year, we went to a great deal of extra effort to add a new twist and some excitement to the show, but we’ve now decided that we can create a better event for our boat shoppers at Pier 33 on those same dates.”
Ride & Decide Demo Days will feature complimentary boat rides aboard a variety of new boats from Chaparral and Robalo, including runabouts, center consoles, dual consoles and Vortex jet boats. Demonstrations, as well as a free cookout, will be held both days from 11 am to 4 pm, with VIP demonstrations on select larger models also available by appointment. “It is vital that we make this extra effort to let people get on board for a ride, so that they can experience how much fun boating really can be,” said Curran. “And there’s no better place to do it than at our full service marina.”
Curran noted the importance of reaching potential first-time boaters as they explore different types of boats and the opportunity that Ride & Decide Demo Days presents to give them the real feel of being on the water.
“We’re going to provide examples of three different styles at our docks: a stern drive runabout from Chaparral, an outboard center console from Robalo and a Chaparral jet boat, plus a few more. Our staff will run the boats and help these visitors learn about the best ways to get on the water. As an industry, we need to work harder to grow this wonderful, affordable outdoor recreational activity.”
