“With the success of our previous Ladybug Release Events, we wanted to find a way tostill offer this educational and fun activity for families in the community," said Justin Locke, President of Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum.

Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum will offer guests the chance to take part in their exciting ladybug release event. This hands-on event will take place in two rose gardens at Pinelawn. It will educate guests on the benefits of releasing a natural predator into the environment as opposed to using potentially harmful chemicals. Masks are required at all times and social distancing will be implemented throughout the event to ensure the safety of participants.

At this fun educational event, children and adults alike will have the opportunity to help release the 150,000 ladybugs throughout Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum’s rose gardens to control a common pest known as the Aphid. The Aphid can be harmful to the health of the arboreta and plants that Pinelawn works so hard to protect; however, by using integrated pest management and releasing the Aphid’s natural predator, using toxic chemical pesticides can be avoided. This method helps to maintain a healthy environment that is safe for the plants, arboreta, flowers, and animal species that reside in Pinelawn. In addition to the release, children will receive a coloring activity to take home to show all they’ve learned from the event.

“With the success of our previous Ladybug Release Events, we wanted to find a way to still offer this educational and fun activity for families in the community. This is why we are taking extra precautions during this event, so we can continue to demonstrate how Pinelawn uses unique and interesting ways to protect our arboreta and plants,” said Justin Locke, President of Pinelawn Memorial Park And Arboretum.
