Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina Benefits Partners for Breast Cancer Care
Fort Myers Beach, Florida (PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- The Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Fort Myers Beach, Florida, made a charitable contribution to Partners for Breast Cancer Care, the only non-profit organization that funds breast care services for low-income, uninsured women and men of all ages in Lee County. On Monday, December 2, two checks totaling $1,270.00, were presented to the organization and will fund 20 breast screenings and/or diagnostic testing for eligible women and men in our community.
The donation originated from Pink Shell’s recent ‘October is Pink Month’ 2-night package where $10 of each package sold went to Partners for Breast Cancer Care. The resort also generated income for the organization by running a ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ special in their on-site store, Audrey’s, where 10% of every PINK item sold went to benefit Partners for Breast Cancer Care.
Presenting the check on behalf of Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina was Ellis Etter, Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Boykin Management and a PfBCC Board Member as well. Executive Director for PfBCC, Janet Darnell, joyously accepted the check at the Partners for Breast Cancer Care office, located at 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers.
In the past 7½ years the organization has helped 7,454 women and men. Of these, 103 women and 1 man were diagnosed with breast cancer. “We have experienced an increase in the number of people needing our services and while funding has become increasingly more difficult to secure, we have managed to provided 11,665 breast care procedures at no cost to our clients. Our efforts fund mammograms, ultrasounds, stereotactic, ultrasound-guided and MRI guided biopsies, surgical consultations, breast MRI and excisional breast biopsies to clients who often must choose between feeding their families and getting breast health care.” said Mr. Etter.
