PiQo4™ the First 4-Wavelength Picosecond Laser Receives FDA Clearance
(PRWEB) September 16, 2015 -- Zarin Medical™ is proud to introduce the first picosecond laser with FOUR wavelengths (specifically, the 1064nm, 532nm, 650nm, and 585nm) to receive FDA clearance. The PiQo4™ system is capable of treating more tattoo inks than any other picosecond laser and users of the previous version already report results with 40% fewer treatments. The PiQo4 has triple the peak power and significantly shorter pulses so investigators anticipate even better results. The system treats all tattoo colors, traumatic tattoos, and amateur tattoos, pigmented lesions such as nevi, lentigines, café-au-lait birthmarks, melasma, and seborrheic keratosis.
The innovative system, designed and manufactured by Focus Medical, offers the highest energy with up to 2000 millijoules in a single pulse. The beam profile is engineered for greater homogeneity to permit industry-leading spot sizes up to 15mm in diameter for enhanced speed and greater depth. The PiQo4 includes a Q-Switch mode, providing more options for picosecond and nanosecond pulse durations than any other picosecond laser.
Nowadays, tattoos include a wide array of colors. Removing them was difficult since most lasers have only one or two wavelengths which target only certain ink colors. The PiQo4 is the one laser that greatly increases the likelihood of reducing/removing tattoos since studies indicate that nine of the most common tattoo colors are highly absorbed by wavelengths that are found in the PiQo4 laser.
1. Black is the most common tattoo color and is highly absorbed by the 1064nm wavelength.
2. Red, the second most-common ink, is highly absorbed by the 532nm wavelength.
3. The third most common ink color is green, which is highly absorbed by the 650nm wavelength.
4. Other colors (such as blues and purples) are highly absorbed by the 585nm wavelength.
The PiQo4 laser also is highly absorbed by dark and light greens, royal and light blue, yellow and pink inks. By contrast, those studies show that laser systems with one wavelength (such as 532nm or 755nm) or systems with two wavelengths (such as 1064nm plus 532nm) are highly absorbed by only four of the most common inks. Additionally, 755nm systems are limited to lighter skin types, whereas the PiQo4’s 1064nm is safer on both darker and lighter skin types.
John Lee, CEO of Focus Medical, reports, “This robust platform has been widely used in Asia for years. Therefore, our company is confident in the system’s reliability and durability.” To introduce the PiQo4 laser to the USA, new systems sold in 2015 include up to an industry-leading three-year warranty. Limitations apply; contact Zarin Medical for details about this introductory offer.
