Pix Mini, the First Smart Backpack for Kids, Eclipses Crowdfunding Goal on Day One and Surpasses $27,000 in Presales on Kickstarter in First Week
After creating a very popular version for adults last year, Pix Inc. has another crowdfunding success on its hands with its new smart backpack for kids using a built-in LED display that's controlled from any iOS/Android smartphone device. A companion app lets kids create and display drawings/animations and play puzzles with their friends - all while providing bright illumination for night safety
WALNUT, Calif., June 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pix Mini, the first digital smart backpack designed for kids with a fun 'sharing with your friends' feature that promotes their creativity while offering an additional safety feature at night, quickly eclipsed its campaign goal and is trending higher on Kickstarter.
The Pix Mini Smart Backpack has raised over $27,000 early in this encore crowdfunding campaign.
"We're excited with the enthusiastic response from crowdfunding backers for this product, designed to help kids develop their social and logical skills and also enhance their ability to stay creative and happy during the day," said Pix Inc. CEO Margaret Rimek.
Pix Mini allows children to draw directly on their backpack through an integrated in-app image editor, which they can use to create animations and display them on the ambient screen on the backpack. Kids can also adjust the app, using boxes that correspond to specific pixels to allow quick color and design changes.
With Pix Mini, kids can make up their own pixel art and display their creativity…and share it with their friends. In addition, they can play puzzle games with friends, which furthers the socialization process by encouraging interaction while they share their creations.
"Pix Mini is also a bright and highly visible backpack, which ensures kids can be easily seen and stay safe during dark early morning and nighttime hours," Rimek adds.
Pix Inc. CMO Segii lezdin says the Pix Mini was developed based on feedback the company received for its first product, Pix Backpack -- an urban-style backpack with a built-in programmable screen made for adults that raised more than $330,000 through crowdfunding on Kickstarter and Indiegogo last year.
"The adult version was an absolute game changer, but many backers continuously asked for the same kind of backpack but designed for kids… that's how the Pix Mini came to be," lezdin said.
While it is a smart backpack, battery-powered, app-controlled and featuring Bluetooth connectivity, it is made with children in mind. Pix Mini is smaller than the adult version so it's easy for kids to carry. It's lightweight (only 1.8 pounds/800 grams empty) and has a volume of 15 liters to provide a practical size so kids have room for every school essential.
