SPRING, Texas, June 2, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Planet Ford in Spring, Texas is proud to host Chips + Treats on June 5th, a free pet microchipping event that is open to the public from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The dealership is working in conjunction with Wag Again Rescue (wagagain.dog). The 501(c)(3) foster-based dog rescue group will be administering the microchips.
The first 100 microchips administered will be provided compliments of Planet Ford located on I-45. The free microchips are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a limit of two dogs per guest, and all pets must be on a leash. For any additional microchips thereafter, they are available for $15 per animal.
In addition, Planet Ford will provide complimentary water and pup treats. A food truck will also be on location with great food available for purchase.
Approximately 10 million pets are lost in the United States, and millions of those end up in the nation's animal shelters. Tragically, only 15 percent of dogs and two percent of cats in shelters without ID tags or microchips are reunited with their owners.
The greater Houston area has hundreds of thousands of pets roaming the streets, many of which once had a home and became strays after they were lost. Statistics have shown that pet owners have a 75% chance of getting a pet back if they are chipped and registered.
