Plow & Hearth Launches Holiday Giving Program to Benefit Local and National Causes
The Virginia company will use its national reach and the holiday shopping season to support the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, and National Forest Foundation.
MADISON, Va., Nov. 17, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Plow & Hearth, LLC, a company with a 40-year history of supporting economic growth, stability and quality of life in Madison County and the Commonwealth of Virginia, is expanding its charitable giving with the launch of "Gifts that Give Back."
The program kicks off in November and will run through the holiday season. For the purchase of specific items on plowandhearth.com and through catalog, retail store, and phone orders, Plow & Hearth will donate to one of three causes. The products chosen for Gifts that Give Back are some the brand's most popular holiday gifts.
Plow & Hearth will donate $1 to Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (part of Feeding America®, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization) for every 40 oz. can of Virginia Peanuts sold. For each one of its highly popular Animal Body Hug Pillows purchased, Plow & Hearth will make a $1 donation to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, a No Kill organization. And, to support on-going reforestation efforts, Plow & Hearth will continue to plant a tree seedling for every Pewter Christmas Tree Ornament sold. As part of their Campaign to Reforest America, Plow & Hearth has helped plant over three million seedlings to date.
"This year has reminded us that we have to continue to take care of each other," Plow & Hearth CEO, Leslie Newton, stated. "We felt it was important to use our national reach to make a local impact. Plow & Hearth has always been committed to supporting the people and organizations that make Central Virginia an outstanding place to live and work. This program is a way to extend our commitment. It's also an opportunity for our customers to buy meaningful gifts that give back during the holiday season."
Gifts that Give Back is just one way that Plow & Hearth seeks to promote a company culture of community involvement and charity. As well as corporate philanthropy, the company offers opportunities for employee participation by hosting food drives, cook-offs, tailgate competitions, silent auctions and raffles throughout the year with all proceeds going to local organizations such as Madison County Public Schools, Madison Boys & Girls Club, Madison-Greene Humane Society and Madison Emergency Services Association. In addition, Plow & Hearth's benefits package now includes time off for full-time employees to participate in charitable events of their choice in order to promote volunteerism.
"It's important to provide support to the communities in which we work and live" said Kenny Ayscue, Director of Human Resources for Plow & Hearth. "One of our fundamental company values is responsibility – to each other, the environment and our community. This has been a basic tenet of the company since its start in 1980. It is as important today as it ever was. For this reason, we encourage our employees to support their community through activities both at work and at home."
