pMD Charge Capture Releases Integrated Secure Text Messaging Beta
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- pMD, the innovation leader in mobile charge capture and physician communication, announced the release of pMD Messaging, a new text messaging solution that allows providers to securely and easily share information.
The messaging system is tightly integrated into pMD’s mobile charge capture application, which allows physicians to enter their medical billing charges and patient handoff notes into their smartphones. pMD Messaging is currently in beta in select markets for both iOS and Android users.

Given the limited number of effective messaging systems on the market, many health care providers are using methods of communication that are unencrypted, most commonly SMS text messaging or email. Although convenient and unobtrusive, these forms of messaging are not secure and can expose sensitive patient health information, creating liabilities for the providers and their practices. Heightened HIPAA regulations indicate that it is now illegal to use SMS text messaging or email to exchange ePHI.
pMD’s messaging platform includes multiple waves of message delivery to ensure that the users are reliably receiving and also reading the messages. The messages are sent within pMD’s mobile charge capture application, and if a message is not read, the in-app message is followed by an SMS text message reminder without ePHI.
pMD Messaging also improves the workflow inefficiencies that result from using a separate system for secure communication. pMD’s integrated messaging eliminates the need for an external messaging program, which can be tedious and time-consuming when having to log into multiple software each day.

pMD Messaging will soon be available to all pMD customers as an integrated charge capture and communication solution for health care professionals.
