pMD Launches New Notification System for HIPAA Compliant Text Messages
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 29, 2014 -- pMD, the innovation leader in physician communication and mobile charge capture, has released pMD Messaging and an unprecedented message notification system in Version 8.0 of its charge capture software. This release is for iOS and Android systems and serves as an integrated and secure communication solution for health care professionals.
pMD’s mobile charge capture application, which allows physicians to enter their medical billing charges and patient handoff notes into their smartphones, now includes pMD Messaging as a component of the software. pMD Messaging functions similarly to a traditional text message, but it is secure and HIPAA compliant.
A key feature of pMD’s messaging platform is a notification system to ensure that the messages are received and read by the users. If a message is not read after it has been delivered, the system follows up with the recipient using different types of escalating notifications. These important message reminders are not dependent on a WiFi signal or cellular data, and include push notifications, SMS text messages, and ultimately voice calls if the user has not read the message after a specified period of time. The patent-pending voice call reminder is used for time-sensitive messages where a call is necessary if the message has not been checked.
“We developed a unique follow-up system for pMD Messaging because of the urgent nature of the messages our customers are exchanging,” pMD CEO Philippe d’Offay said. “These automatic notifications give providers peace of mind in knowing that their messages are being read.”
Dr. Ali Borhan, with Affiliated Urologists in Phoenix, Arizona, finds the message notifications to be very useful for unread messages. “pMD’s message reminders have been great when we forget to check a message,” Dr. Borhan said. “It’s nice to have a reminder that tells you to check your messages in pMD - it’s like having a personal assistant in your pocket.”
Additionally, the seamless text messaging system gives providers the ability to message anyone who uses pMD, including providers outside of their practice. This allows for an extensive messaging network where providers can safely and instantly communicate with one another to improve patient care. pMD Messaging creates an efficient workflow for providers and staff as the messaging platform is directly integrated into the charge capture software, where providers already manage and record patient information for medical billing.
“Before pMD Messaging, our group was forced to be very vague in our messages using regular text systems,” Dr. Daniel Jaffee, also with Affiliated Urologists, said. “It was a pain, and it wasn’t anywhere near as easy as the messaging in pMD. pMD Messaging is very helpful because we can text each other over a secure system and not have to leave out any patient information. It’s quick - I find it’s quicker than using regular text messages.”
About pMD
pMD’s mobile charge capture software supports doctors across multiple specialties by allowing them to enter their patient charges into Android, iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch devices at the point of patient care. The patient visit is then visible to other doctors within the practice and can be billed immediately. Doctors using charge capture are increasing their ROI in a time where Medicare cuts, ICD-10, PQRS, and other costs are significantly impacting profitability. pMD increases efficiency and security in a practice through automation and secure text messaging, and it provides free interfaces with most major electronic medical records, hospital information, and medical billing systems, including Allscripts Pro PM, Allscripts Tiger, athenaCollector by athenahealth, Cerner, Epic, GE Centricity (formerly Millbrook and IDX), MEDITECH, NextGen, and Vitera Intergy (Sage).
