Podcast Magazine featuring Glynn Washington - Inaugural Issue Feb. 2020

With the tremendous growth and outside investment the industry has recently experienced—coupled with undeniable shifts in consumer audio consumption—the timing is ideal for our launch.

PODCAST Magazine’s publisher and editor-in-chief Steve Olsher—entrepreneur, podcaster, international speaker and New York Times bestselling author—announces the launch of the new podcasting culture and lifestyle publication that goes “beyond the microphone” and into the lives of the leading Podcasters that fans love.

The Inaugural February Issue cover story features Glynn Washington, a media personality and producer whose chart-topping podcasts—WNYC Studios’ “Snap Judgment” (available on 400+ NPR stations), “Spooked” and “Heaven’s Gate”—have generated over 250 million downloads to date.

Esteemed journalist Katie Couric will appear on PODCAST Magazine's March cover, talking about the success of her podcast, “Next Question with Katie Couric,” and what listeners can look forward to in upcoming episodes.

Additional upcoming features include top podcasters Jordan Belfort (April cover), Adam Corolla, John Lee Dumas, Marie Forleo, Jenna Kutcher, Ed Mylett, Amy Porterfield and Dave Ramsey, among many others.

Olsher says, “When I was initially struck with the idea of creating a lifestyle magazine that caters to Podcast fans, I was stunned and excited to find that no such publication exists. With the tremendous growth and outside investment the industry has recently experienced—coupled with undeniable shifts in consumer audio consumption—the timing is ideal for our launch.”

Washington, who is one of only three people to launch three different shows to number one on Apple Podcasts, says, “My primary role is to open a dialogue between people and to help them understand one another better. When you talk about things politically, no one does anything. To capture your attention, to secure your interest, I need to tell you a story. A story is a sneak attack to having a real dialogue.”

The monthly magazine is available for a free digital lifetime subscription for a limited time at PodcastMagazine.com. Initial distribution will be digital-only, available via iOS and Google distribution platforms, with a limited print run for each issue.

According to the Infinite Dial’s 2019 report released by Edison Research and Triton Digital, more than 90 million Americans over the age of 12 now listen to podcasts on a monthly basis—up from 73 million a year prior. Further, podcast consumers are listening to an increased number of episodes with the average podcast listener now tuning in to an average of seven episodes per week. Both trends are expected to continue their upward ascent both on a domestic and international basis.

Launching with 19 category directors, the magazine features a curated team of dedicated writers, podcasters and industry authorities who share personal interviews, the latest top podcasts, “Under The Radar” shows, podcasting products, tools & platforms, and industry happenings—as well as PODCAST Magazine’s exclusive fan-driven, monthly categorical chart, The Hot 50.
