Poet Robert Sterling's New Book "Sonnelles" Features Contemporary Versions of the Classical Sonnet and Creates an Original Style Entirely His Own, Both in Print and Audio
Recent release "Sonnelles" from Page Publishing author Robert Sterling is a unique exploration of humanity through a style of verse that pays homage to the sonnet, but is not limited by structure.
VENTURA, Calif., April 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Robert Sterling, a California native who has spent some time living abroad, has completed his new book "Sonnelles": his first published collection of poetry that attempts to tap into various emotions, philosophies, and mindsets through lyricism.
"I've tried to distill my experiences or, rather, impressions, of my life experiences in verse since I was young," Robert Sterling said of his journey to seeking publication. "Most of my works were destroyed in a fire in the eighties ('Probably a good thing,' he said), and I've worked consistently since then, either resurrecting old memories, or committing new ones to written word."
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Robert Sterling's collection is an emotive journey that challenges the genre of poetry by incorporating aspects of memoir, as well as peppering in aspects of fiction.
"Over the years, I have admired the works of past poets, especially Shakespeare's sonnets, and based upon such inspiration, I have composed poems with their spirit in mind," Sterling said in description of his work. "You might call them modern adaptations, because they do not adhere to the strict iambic and rhyme schemes of the past, hence the title Sonnelles."
Recent Book Review:
"I found this work to be intriguing, thought-provoking, and beautifully written by an extremely intelligent and very excellent poet. It's a book to keep on your bed stand at night for wonderful reading or to take anywhere especially when you have an hour or two by yourself to read and reflect on his words. It is magical and wonderful and something for the classrooms." -Golfwell Review
To delve into this modern poetic undertaking, readers can purchase "Sonnelles" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
The audio version (as CD or download) is available from the author's website (http://www.sonnelles.com). It includes narration of each poem by the author as well as background music he both composed and performed: a separate theme for each poem. Quite a creative effort and as far as we know, a first
