WEST MIDLANDS, United Kingdom, Sept. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Silent Mind, maker and distributor of some of the top-selling singing bowls available today, has clearly stated that authenticity and quality are paramount to their mission.
At the same time, ethical consumption and concerns over fair trade have understandably taken a larger role in what modern shoppers purchase. Silent Mind's meditation and mindfulness tools are created in Nepal by local artisans, using locally-sourced materials. This has been of great benefit to those still struggling years after a deadly earthquake struck the area, bringing with it an economic impact of approximately $7 billion.
Yet fair practices in production are not all the young company seeks to give back. In 2018, Silent Mind began visiting areas experiencing various kinds of hardship to distribute aid.
In April, the team visited survivors who were driven from their homes following the Battle of Marawi in the Philippines. While there, they distributed food, blankets, and personal care items to hundreds of families who were left homeless following the months-long conflict.
Immediately following the success of this event, Silent Mind set out to plan their next stop. This time, they would visit a school in Nepal, where their singing bowls are made.
At the end of August 2018, the Silent Mind team arrived at the Shree Birendra Primary School in Dolakha, Nepal. The small school is located upon a mountaintop in a remote village, and has been tenuously subsisting on local donations to remain open.
As poor as the school is, many of its students are even poorer. There are a number of orphaned children who rely on Shree Birendra for their education, and the majority of students overall do not have the resources to eat lunch.
Therefore, Silent Mind's first order of business was donating the few hundred dollars necessary to fund student lunches for an entire school year. The company plans to make this donation a tradition, and will continue to contribute to the lunch fund annually.
In addition, educational supplies were donated to the school's 40 children and their dedicated team of instructors. Silent Mind distributed enough medical kits, computers, library books, and charts to make the next school year their best yet. Other items, such as chalk, erasers, pencil sharpeners, clocks, a school bell, and a globe were added to upgrade common areas of the classroom.
Finally, each student attending Shree Birendra this year received their own kit of essentials for school.
This charity event was made possible through the generous purchase of Silent Mind singing bowls on their website and on Amazon. Customers are increasingly attracted to the company's mission and how they can make an impact, with one customer review recently stating, "If you are looking for a caring, compassionate small business to purchase from, this is the one." The Silent Mind team looks forward to hosting similar events in the future.
