PortugalConfidential.com Celebrates 10 Years and Relaunches with Fresh Branding, Design and Attitude

Launched in 2010, during the economic crisis, the digital travel resource has benefited from its “contemporary Portugal” content philosophy as well as an increase in international interest in the country to reach the 10th anniversary milestone. Looking forward, the rebranded and redesigned Portugal Confidential Travel & Lifestyle narrows its content strategy to focus on and attract the growing luxury market in Portugal.

PortugalConfidential.com, the travel resources website in English, commemorates 10 years of promoting contemporary Portugal. To celebrate the milestone, the site has relaunched with a fresh identity, clean design and a new attitude. Dubbed Portugal Confidential Travel and Lifestyle, the content strategy is to engage an upscale audience with features on luxury hotels, fine dining, designer shopping, trendy bars, sophisticated living and more.

Launched a decade ago, PortugalConfidential.com was intended to explore Portugal through a contemporary cosmopolitan perspective. “I had just relocated to Portugal from Los Angeles,” explains American expat and Portugal Confidential founder Greg Boegner, “I was interested in learning more about new boutique hotels, chic restaurants and popular bars and lounges. In the process, I discovered that no one was promoting Portugal in this way.” Hence, the brand Portugal Confidential was born with the tag line “Everything Cool in Portugal.”

The reimagined Portugal Confidential Travel and Lifestyle retires the old tagline in exchange for a more elegant approach. “With Portugal’s recent economic growth, ’Everything cool in Portugal’ became a little too broad,” says Boegner, “we were trying to cover too much ground. Our new strategy streamlines the subject matter to appeal to the high-end consumer and traveller, a market that we see expanding in Portugal (before and after COVID restrictions are lifted, of course).”

Besides a cleaner design, Portugal Confidential has implemented a number of new features. Users can now browse the site by key cities and regions, and search subcategories such as hotels, dining, shopping and nightlife. There are also Travel Guide landing pages, similar to micro-sites for key areas such as Lisbon, Porto, Alentejo, Algarve and Madeira. Additional landing pages for significant topics of interest such as Comporta and Avenida da Liberdade have been launched with more in development centering on Douro and Moving to Portugal.
