HR Acuity, the only technology solution designed specifically to meet the unique nuances of employee relations that companies trust to help them track, investigate and analyze issues the right way, has released a special report, Tech and Metrics in Employee Relations: Practices and Trends. The report suggests a dramatic shift is occurring in the HR landscape as employee relations is becoming a strategic partner within organizations. Yet work remains, as half of organization still haven't adopted technology designed to manage workplace risk, a hot button issue in today's post-#MeToo environment.

Technology is Key for Metrics and Analytics, But Many Still Need to Adopt
Fifty percent (50%) of participating organizations are using case management systems to track employee relations issues. Deb Muller, CEO of HR Acuity observed, "Increasingly, organizations are looking to capture and leverage meaningful data to provide insights and ultimately drive business results. While historically, HR has been viewed as a function that supports business strategy, companies are now realizing that HR can actually enable business strategy and contribute to bottom-line growth through effective use of metrics and analytics based on data about their most important asset—their employees."

According to the data, HR Acuity is the market share leader with 27% of respondents using the employee relations technology solution. "This is good news and a trend we expect to continue as the organizations that still rely on spreadsheets or manual tracking recognize that these methods cannot provide the data and metrics needed to understand what is going on inside their organizations," said Muller. The findings show that 50% of organizations are using various tools that are not designed for reporting employee relations information, such as Excel spreadsheets. 44% of those organizations plan to transition to case management systems in the next twelve months.

Data-Driven Insights Fuel Change
The report indicates that 61% of organizations are using employee relations metrics for insights into employee behavior, engagement and performance and to drive policy changes. Muller noted, "This percentage is fairly consistent with our past two studies. The difference this year is that respondents are more broadly integrating their data with other functional areas to provide a more meaningful picture. 50% of respondents are combining data with business performance data for further analysis – a 31% increase over last year. Integrating data this way makes it easy to spot trends, potential areas of concern and support plans for training and/or new initiatives to improve employee performance."

The report also revealed that 59% of participants are reporting employee relations metrics to senior leadership (C-suite). "Many respondents also commented that they are using ER metrics to mitigate risk, justify increases in headcounts, support policy changes and develop programs to improve workplace culture," added Muller.
