Jerusalem, Israel (PRWEB) February 28, 2014 -- Israeli satirical news site PreOccupiedTerritory.com hit record traffic levels yesterday, from an unexpected source, a week-old post about raisins in cookies. Site manager David Swidler had no explanation as to why this particular article suddenly took off. In fact, its 2260 views yesterday were more than a 140 times the 16 views it had received just the day before.
The article entitled "Rabbis Ban Raisins from Cookies; An Abomination" states that a council of prominent Rabbis had banned raisins from cookies, claiming them to be an abomination, given that they're often mistaken for chocolate chips.
Says Swidler, "I'd say I'm happy that people are getting exercised about raisins, but I don't like exercise either."
The traffic spike mainly came from Facebook users, who shared the article throughout the day. The more than 2600 visitors to PreOccupied Territory were more than five times higher than the site's previous high.
