PowerObjects to Host Minneapolis CodeDay 2014
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- PowerObjects, a professional services firm 100% focused on providing service, support, education, and add-ons for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, is proud to sponsor and host the 2014 CodeDay event in Minneapolis. Taking place May 24-25 in 24 different cities nationwide, CodeDay brings together students to collaborate and build apps and games over a 24-hour period.
CodeDay is put on by StudentRND, a Seattle-based non-profit committed to educating students from middle school through college about programming and engineering. StudentRND’s CodeDay initiative continues to grow and expand its influence, with the upcoming Memorial Day event expected to attract over 2,000 participants nationwide.
PowerObjects will be hosting the Minneapolis CodeDay event at its headquarters, with spots available for up to 50 students. Attendees are not required to know how to code to participate in the event.
“CodeDay is about engaging academic types of students and providing them a cool, unique, organic platform on which to develop some great ideas,” says Dean Jones, CEO at PowerObjects. “It makes sense for a company like PowerObjects to host this event—we are all about living the technology and leveraging it to do new and exciting things.”
Participants in CodeDay do not have pre-set goals for the 24-hour time frame, but instead are encouraged to express ideas and form groups based on common interests. Students then spend the bulk of the 24 hours brainstorming, developing, and building games and apps. At the end of the 24 hours, each team presents what they have developed over the past 24 hours.
“I’m eager to see what the students accomplish in the 24 hours they have here,” says Jones. “Who knows, maybe we’ll even get some good PowerObjects R&D recruits out of this.”
