Precision Design Studios Re-platforms Pacific Coast Feather Company® to Demandware
Providence, RI (PRWEB) November 24, 2014 -- Precision Design Studios (PDS) is pleased to announce the launch of Pacific Coast Feather Company’s new online storefront, built on the Demandware platform.
Pacific Coast recognized the need for an upgrade in both design and functionality to remain competitive in its space, as well as the need for a more robust platform that has the ability to handle complex features.
Pacific Coast, the number one brand of down and feather bedding in the United States, was set on using Demandware as its new platform, but it knew that the live storefront could only be as good as the implementation. While PDS’ portfolio largely consists of fashion and cosmetic clients, its reputation for developing industry-leading sites on the Demandware platform attracted Pacific Coast.
Pacific Coast began its engagement with PDS by working with its Senior E-commerce Business Analysts (BAs). The company created its own site designs, but relied on the BAs to develop the wireframes for the site and guide them on best practices relating to taxonomy and usability.
The implementation took advantage of several out-of-the-box Demandware features, including product sets, multi-ship, a custom homepage, and category landing page templates. Beyond that, PDS developers built a “save cart” feature that allows users to retrieve their cart on multiple devices, an “abandoned cart” program, and a complex integration with InfusionSoft, Pacific Coast’s email/CRM provider.
The product detail pages (PDPs) boast quite a bit of customization in that they integrate video, as well as interactive images with hot spots. Most unique about the PDPs, though, is that they utilize dynamic content to display promotional messages personalized to various customer groups. This is a rare feature to be seen in a Demandware implementation.
PDS developed Pacific Coast’s new site using a hybrid responsive design, meaning that the layouts of certain key pages differ between desktop and mobile to ensure optimization on all devices. The hybrid responsive pages include the homepage, landing pages, grid pages, and PDP pages, while the remainder of the site remains pure responsive.
