Presidents Alberto Fernández and Nayib Bukele win big at NAPOLITANS (The 'Oscars of Politics')
The Washington Academy of Political Arts & Sciences® announced the winners of the 2020 Napolitan Victory Awards. The main award for Campaign of the Year went to "TODOS" from the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández. The 2019 presidential proposal from Nayib Bukele (El Salvador) won two awards, the first for the grassroots mobilization effort and the other for the campaign manager, Lester Toledo.
WASHINGTON, May 5, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Washington Academy of Political Arts & Sciences® announced the winners of the 2020 Napolitan Victory Awards. The main award for Campaign of the Year went to "TODOS" from the President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández. The 2019 presidential proposal from Nayib Bukele (El Salvador) won two awards, the first for the grassroots mobilization effort and the other for the campaign manager, Lester Toledo.
While the announcement of the winners was delayed until May 1 (2021) because of the pandemic, the awards importantly recognized 2020 campaigns and leaders in the world of politics, including more than 70 categories for the best campaigns, innovators, producers, activists and strategists.
BIG WINNERS
The Vice President of Costa Rica, Espy Campbell, won the Global Democracy Award, an annual award given to outstanding organizations and leaders who work for noble causes.
Mexico garnered a record number of nominees and winners, including the Spot of the Year award for the "Comparte tu Guelaguetza", a piece that featured the participation of the renowned actress Yalitza Aparicio.
From Europe, both Spain and Germany won the golden statuettes. In Spain, VOX and Ciudadanos parties won, as well as the "Falcon Viajes" campaign by the Popular Party. In Germany, Manfred Weber, leader of the European People's Party (EPP) won the Spot of the Year award (English Branch) for its campaign, The Power of WE.
Other winners included campaigns of former Argentine president Mauricio Macri, Alejandro Giammattei, president of Guatemala and the slogan used by the campaign of Claudia López Hernández, the first-ever lesbian and woman mayor of Bogotá, Colombia.
In addition, the "TODOS" presidential campaign from Argentina also won two other NAPOLITANS. The first was for the strategist of the campaign, Juan Courel, and the second, went to Gustavo Menéndez, mayor of the City of Merlo, in Buenos Aires for the political spot "Nuestros Abuelos".
