PrestaShop Announces Plans to Expand Throughout Europe
Paris, France (PRWEB) July 18, 2014 -- PrestaShop, an industry leader in open source solutions for ecommerce, today announces significant expansion plans throughout Europe. The company is also announcing the arrival of a new Country Manager for the ‘Benelux’ region. Stefan Devroey will lead PrestaShop’s operations in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Recruitment is currently underway for Country Managers in the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland and Russia.
PrestaShop has one of the world’s largest open source development communities exclusively dedicated to ecommerce technology. With more than 620,000 members located all over the world, the community is exceptionally active and includes a mix of merchants, developers, web agencies and industry partners. Since 2007, PrestaShop’s open source software has been downloaded almost 4 million times. Today, more than 185,000 stores run on PrestaShop technology.
“We are delighted to appoint Stefan Devroey as our new Country Manager for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg,” said Benjamin Teszner, CEO of PrestaShop. “Today we have key partnerships and several thousand users throughout this important region. Stefan will enable us to strengthen those relationships and expand our business opportunities. His executive experience at Belgacom and Telenet, along with his deep knowledge of the entire region is a tremendous asset to our organization. We know the entire PrestaShop community in Benelux will benefit from Stefan’s arrival.”
“I am honored and very excited to be leading the Benelux office,” said Stefan Devroey, Country Manager at PrestaShop. “We have the most dynamic e-commerce solution in the market, a freemium business model and a very healthy user base in Benelux. I know PrestaShop will grow even further as people in the ecommerce industry learn more about our award-winning platform." Previously Stefan Devroey was the founder of a private company that provided ICT and ecommerce services. He is a former executive at Belgacom where Stefan was responsible for the launch of digital television in Belgium. He also served as Vice President of online media at Telenet, and CEO of a Telenet subsidiary that provided new media aimed at young people.
“We’re looking for people with a passion for internet technology, an entrepreneurial spirit and the experience needed to conduct international business development on behalf of PrestaShop,” said Arnaud Bourboulon, Chief Revenue Officer at PrestaShop. “Stefan is a great example of this and we’re looking for new candidates to become Country Managers in the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland and Russia. These regions have rapidly expanding ecommerce markets and will be strategic for our growth plans.”
Earlier this year, the company announced that it had secured $9.3 Million in a Series B funding round led by XAnge Private Equity, Seventure Partners and Serena Capital. With a total of $15 million in funding, PrestaShop plans to accelerate product development, marketing and international expansion.
