Prevent Blindness Names Dr. Glenn Ellisor and Jim Greenwood of Vision Source Signature Eye Care as 2019 Persons of Vision Award Recipients
CHIICAGO (PRWEB) September 27, 2018 -- Prevent Blindness, the nation's oldest eye health and safety non-profit organization, has chosen Glenn Ellisor, OD, and Jim Greenwood, of Vision Source, as the recipients of the 2019 Prevent Blindness Persons of Vision Award. The awards will be presented on March 21, 2019, at the Prevent Blindness Person of Vision Dinner at the Edison Ballroom, New York City, in conjunction with Vision Expo East. All proceeds from the event will go to support the sight-saving programs of Prevent Blindness.
The Prevent Blindness Person of Vision Award recognizes an individual or organization whose inspired outlook champions healthy vision and its importance for a healthy life.
Dr. Glenn Ellisor, Executive Chairman and Founder of Vision Source, has been dedicated to providing quality vision and eye care to his patients since 1985. He currently owns and operates two practices in Kingwood, Texas. In 1991, Dr. Ellisor founded Vision Source, the nation’s leading network of more than 4,700 private practice optometrists. In addition to treating patients, he continues to lead the Vision Source board of directors and provide counsel on strategic direction at Vision Source.
Jim Greenwood joined Vision Source as President and CEO in 2013. Prior to Vision Source, Jim spent 20 years with Concentra, a national healthcare services organization that currently treats approximately 50,000 patients each day. Jim is passionate about helping optometry become an essential component of the value-based healthcare delivery systems of tomorrow. At Vision Source, Greenwood is responsible for the development and execution of strategic plans that enable the company to fulfill its mission to the private practice optometrists it serves, and the 16 million patients Vision Source doctors treat each year.
“Companies like Vision Source provide people across the country with the services needed to preserve healthy eyesight,” said Jeff Todd, President and CEO of Prevent Blindness. “By presenting Dr. Glenn Ellisor and Jim Greenwood with the 2019 Persons of Vision Award, we proudly recognize their important efforts to improve vision and protect the gift of sight.”
The chairperson of the 2019 Prevent Blindness Person of Vision Committee is Derrick Artis, OD, formerly the executive vice president of operations for Vision Source.
“We are looking forward to a wonderful event with leading industry professionals to celebrate the work of Dr. Ellisor and Mr. Greenwood,” said Prevent Blindness Board of Directors Chairperson Torrey DeKeyser. “We invite everyone to save the date of March 21 and register to attend as soon as possible!”
