BALTIMORE, Md., Dec. 15, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "Home for the Holidays" was started in 2018 in memory of one of the owners of Price Busters Furniture, Steve Schuman, whose "firm belief in life was to give to others", so Price Busters has continued this tradition in his merit.
After a selection process through various non-profit organizations in and around Baltimore, Price Busters has chosen select families who may benefit from the stress, hardship, and costs of trying to provide for their families.
Our first family, Tyria B. and her two children, both excellent students, were highly recommended as recipients from their case manager, Shawnia C., at St. Vincent De Paul of Baltimore, through the Sarah's Hope division of their program.
The global pandemic has been a difficult circumstance to overcome, but for Ms. Ben and her children, the tough times were almost too much. As a mother of two excelling children, Ms. Ben did exactly what she needed to do, and that was provide for her children, even if they meant seeking outside help. As a family, they went to Sarah's Hope shelter on New Years Day 2019. This being after spending the past 16 years in unstable environments, she decided things needed to change for the better.
As time went by, Tyira and her teenagers fulfilled one of their dreams of having their own place to call home, and moved into an apartment together. For the first in their lives, they had a home, stability, and a safe place to grow as one unit.
Over two years have passed, and this wonderful family has been able to maintain their personal space and mutual love for each other, while still tackling life's daily bumps along the way. Ms. Ben has been able to work part-time and meet her family's needs with minimal outside support, a true giver to her children and an understanding of the adversities she has gone through to get to this point.
Price Busters is thrilled to be able to help Ms. Ben and her children continue to make their home even homier with an entire house of new furniture at no cost, because no one should have to go through the holiday season not being comfortable in their own home.
Homelessness is not a choice, but a circumstance.
