Today, the Pro Padel League (PPL) – North America’s first professional Padel league – is excited to announce that EEP Capital has entered into an agreement to purchase the league’s first franchise that will be based in the great city of Los Angeles.

Established to provide capital, know-how and the toolbox to help U.S.-based Padel entrepreneurs succeed, EEP Capital was founded as a spin-off from EE Padel – a manufacturer and global supplier of Padel courts. Investors in EEP Capital include Swedish, U.S., and Spanish sport entrepreneurs including a number of active NHL players such as Jacob Markström and Elias Lindholm (Calgary Flames), and professional Padel players on the World Padel Tour.

“The announcement of our first team owner, EEP Capital, is a historic milestone for the league. The PPL is proud to be associated with an investment group like EEP Capital that symbolizes the integrity, professionalism, and commitment to Padel that our league will be seeking in all of its owners,” commented Marcos del Pilar, Commissioner of the PPL. “The PPL is delighted that Los Angeles will be the first home of high octane team competition for the most entertaining sport in the world.”

Headquartered in Laguna Beach, California, EEP Capital is on a mission to bring Padel to the U.S., in close partnership with passionate, local entrepreneurs.

“Padel is rapidly growing on the West Coast and across North America as people around the world embrace one of the world’s fastest growing sports,” stated Alan Flatt, President, of EEP Capital. “We are excited to be a part of facilitating this growth and bringing a high level of play to fans locally with the purchase of the Los Angeles franchise.”

In the weeks ahead, the PPL will be announcing other key cities that have been awarded franchises. These teams will ignite a Padel phenomenon in the U.S. and position the PPL at the forefront of the Padel explosion that is happening in North America.

The PPL’s inaugural season will kick-off in the Spring of 2023 (with dates to be announced in January) and conclude with the PPL CUP Championship. During the first season, each team will consist of two male and two female players and will follow the international scoring format.

The PPL’s mission is to create a premier sports league providing a national stage for the sport while generating nationwide awareness and excitement for Padel. Something that has never been done before, the PPL will provide players and fans with a new platform that showcases Padel and grows participation in the sport.

Currently, Padel has over 25 million players worldwide and is growing in popularity in the U.S. with the number of Padel courts set to double in 2022. The PPL will enable players, coaches, team owners, facility owners, broadcasters, fans, sponsors, and brands to all be involved in, and capitalize on, the sport’s explosive growth.

The league is dedicated to celebrating Padel’s Spanish roots and has made VAMOS the PPL’s official slogan. For more information on the PPL, visit: https://propadelleague.com/. VAMOS!
