(PRWEB) April 10, 2015 -- The Procida Film Festival’s main objective is to bring together authors and movie lovers and let in the magical, breathtaking scenery of the island. In this spirit, filmmakers and artists are invited to send in their works to the Procida Film Festival 2015. The call for participation is available at http://procidafilmfestival-eng.weebly.com/partecipate.html. May 20 is the deadline to submit.
The list of nominations will be published by June 20 with three nominations to be announced for each category. The festival will take place from July 3 to 11, 2015. Art lovers are also invited to cooperate, and visitors and tourists are welcomed to participate.
A team of experts will judge and award the best short movies, documentaries, video clips and even web series. The winners, among others, will be given the opportunity to spend some time on Procida to shoot a short movie or documentary that will be written and filmed on the island.
The Procida Film Festival will also provide the opportunity to participate in debates, to meet with the filmmakers and to feature movies made by young artists.
The island of Procida and the movie industry have always been closely connected. It has proven a natural movie set with 34 movie shootings having taken place on the island. When visitors arrive, they come across the setting of “Plein Soleil” starring Alain Delon. Continuing from Marina Grande, one can see the picturesque location of “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” a movie directed by Anthony Minghella with a cast of Hollywood stars like Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law and Cinecittà stars such as Fiorello, Sergio Rubini, Beppe Fiorella and Stefania Rocca.
Between the village of Marina Corricella and Terra Murata is the imposing abandoned jail where visitors can enter into movie history and onto the set of “Il Postino” starring Massimo Troisi, “Awaiting Trial in Prison” with Alberto Sordi, “La supertestimone” with Monica Vitti, “Francesca and Nunziata” with Sophia Loren, and “Arturo’s Island” directed by Damiano Damiani and based on the novel by Elsa Morante.
Procida is an island that has brought luck to young artists and confirmation to famous ones. In turn, the movie industry has brought luck to the island, making it known around the world as a priceless cultural, historical, natural and scenic location.
Based on the successful partnership between the island and the movie industry, since 2002, a series of thematic initiatives under the name of “Isola del Postino” have been setup; since 2013, driven by a love for the island and passion for the movie industry, Fabrizio Borgogna, together with the youth nonprofit association “Meridian 14,” conceived and led the launch of the Procida Film Festival.
LaSuite Resort and Spa is recommended for Festival attendees.
