After suffering through the ultra-high-price era of product prototyping, author John Clark Craig offers a low-cost to no-cost way to get plastic products turned into new inventions using a very simple new programming language for 3D-printing called OpenSCAD.

OpenSCAD's unique programming language still involved a learning curve, so Craig created a Python library that simplified programming so much that he decided to share it with other makers, teaching them how to use it in his book, but providing the code to them for free.
OpenSCAD has opened up 3D-modeling software to virtually anyone. Many public libraries purchased their own 3D plastic printing machines.
