MELVILLE, N.Y., March 3, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Professional Physical Therapy, a leading provider of outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation services throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, joins the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) in recognizing how Athletic Trainers (ATs) impact health care through action, both on and off the field.
The Professional Physical Therapy Athletic Trainers serve athletes in many ways, including early recognition, evaluation and care of athletic injuries, injury prevention and education, fast track physical therapy appointments, and referrals of injured athletes to top medical professionals, among many others. During the month of March, Professional Physical Therapy is raising awareness of the Athletic Training profession, while honoring the company's ATs and those in the communities they serve, for the compassionate care they provide to student-athletes.
The planned activities include a social media campaign led by our ATs showcasing the different ways they take action to positively affect the lives of athletes. For the second year in a row, Professional Physical Therapy is working with two local Division I sports teams—the Iona Gaels and St. John's Red Storm—to honor their Athletic Training staff during upcoming men's basketball games. The Iona Gaels ceremony will take place at the Wednesday, March 4th game at the Hynes Athletics Center in New Rochelle, NY and the St. John's Red Storm celebration will happen on Saturday, March 7th at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, NY. Each ceremony will include a PA announcement and plaque presentation to the school's athletic training staff.
"It's impossible to measure the impact athletic trainers have on student-athletes; not just here at Iona College, but across the nation," said Iona College's Director of Athletics, Matthew Glovaski. "The hours, skills and passion involved with the job are inspiring to the student-athletes they help directly, and to the countless other staff members who work with and around our sports medicine personnel. We at Iona are proud to work with Professional Physical Therapy and the National Athletic Trainers' Association in shining a spotlight on all athletic trainers and the immeasurable influence they have on college athletics."
Angelo Marsella, Director of Sports Medicine at Professional Physical Therapy added, "Because I get to work with over 50 Athletic Trainers and 50 schools directly, March is always an exciting time, as it rejuvenates me and reminds me why I've been an Athletic Trainer for 19 years. Through collaboration with communities, families, coaches and other healthcare professionals such as physicians, physician assistants, nurses and physical therapists, to name a few, I can attest to the many ways 'ATs Impact Health Care Through Action,' which happens to be this year's NATA slogan!"
