Professional Photographers of America Announces Changes to Certification Program
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 16, 2013 -- With everyone calling themselves “photographers” these days, it’s more important than ever for the true professionals to set themselves apart from their competition. Earning the coveted Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) designation can do just that, especially when it’s backed by a longstanding organization like PPA.
PPA’s CPP program assures others of a photographer’s knowledge, experience and continuance to develop new skills and techniques. The CPP designation is a true mark of professional competence. It instills confidence in both the client and the photographer, from knowing they did what it takes to earn their certification and to uphold the program’s standards.
Every three years, CPPs must re-certify to maintain their designation. However to coincide with the changes to the program, PPA is offering an amnesty program to anyone who held the CPP designation. Previous CPPs can be grandfathered in to the program at no cost, simply by renewing their PPA membership by Sept. 1, 2014.
“Since we have updated the entire program, we wanted to offer former CPPs the opportunity for a fresh start as well,” said Julia Boyd, senior manager of certification for PPA. “It’s a real challenge and commitment for someone to go through the program and earn their CPP. We hope the changes to the program will help a CPP become as recognized as a CPA or RN.”
With the revamped CPP program, photographers now have more resources than ever to help them work toward earning their certification.
The brand-new website gives photographers everything they need to know about the program, from in-depth explanation on what a certification is and means, to the CPP pathway for those who have yet to certify. New resources include a CPP candidate fact sheet, CPP marketing campaign and tool kit, exclusive CPP communities on Facebook and PPA’s social network, theLoop and so much more. There’s even a new “Learn How to Use your CPP Resources” video which educates CPPs on how to you use the materials available to them to market their CPP.
“Getting my CPP designation was a huge game-changer for me,” said Dave Goldman, CPP, owner of Dave Goldman Photography in Charlotte, N.C. “It allowed me to separate myself from other photographers and take my work to the next level.”
